Dealing with Oregon Seasons to keep your car looking it’s best

Love the look of your car after a good, full car detail?

Not only does it smell great, but it looks and feels totally new, too. You’ll want to keep that just-detailed look going for as long as possible.

Here are some tips from our car detailing team in Eugene about how to extend the life of your detailing work for as long as possible.

5 Tips to Make Your Full Car Detail Last Longer

Keep a microfiber cloth in your car

Microfiber cloths are a super handy item to keep in your car. They are useful for cleaning up accidental spills and wiping down the dashboard to help keep it dust-free.

Even more importantly, though, they are ideal to use for drying off your car after an Oregon rainstorm. The microfiber material will soak up all of the raindrops so there are no water spots left behind. The best part? You can pick up a pack of a dozen microfiber cloths for just a few bucks.

Use the right products for maintenance

One of the most important things you can do for your vehicle when it comes to maintaining it after it has been detailed is to make sure you are using the right products for the maintenance work.

A lot of people think that dish soap is the best thing to use for washing your car; if you use it, though, you’ll end up needing a detailing job much sooner as it can strip off the clear coat and wax faster.

Talk to your Emerald Mobile Detail technician about what products they recommend for use on your vehicle. You’ll want a good wax, leather condition, and all-purpose cleaning at the very minimum.

Keep the vehicle waxed

Waxing is so important to the appearance of your vehicle and yet so few people take the time to do it. Invest in a good car wax and apply it to your vehicle at least every four months (or more often if you notice water is no longer beading on the surface).

Wax acts like a protective layer to your vehicle, helping repel water and other substances while protecting the clear coat and paint underneath.

Once you start waxing regularly you’ll notice a big difference in the appearance of your car. It’ll look like you recently had a full car detail every day.

Condition leather interiors regularly

The leather interior of your vehicle is something you can’t afford to ignore.

If you do, you could end up with cracked, torn, and worn out leather that’s going to be expensive to repair. Simply condition the leather regularly with a good leather conditioning product.

Talk to your Emerald Mobile Detail professional for their recommendation.

Simply rub a small amount of the conditioner onto the leather with a microfiber cloth and then allow it to dry. It will keep the leather feeling supple and looking brand new for longer.

Enforce a no-eating rule

One of the best parts of getting your car back after a full car detail is that all those little crumbs have disappeared from the interior. You can enjoy that feeling all the time by preventing those crumbs from getting into your vehicle in the first place.

Set and enforce a “no eating” rule in your car. It might be a tough one if you have children, but it could actually be a benefit to your health (and your safety) if you stick to it.

That way those crumbs don’t get into your seats, floorboards, and dashboard and you can go longer between deep cleanings.
